New to the Jewelry Department

Quick post before the day kicks off - lots of VERY cool things on the stove right now including a big announcement I’m busting to make, but must wait. I don’t like waiting. Do you? Impatience - my biggest vice.

In any case, here are a few new products to the studio that I’m loving. Both fall within a very affordable catagory and add a bit of “Lucky” vibe to our jewelry department (Lucky is just my favorite jewelry brand ever!).

and leaving you with a bit of sunshine - captured these while on a walk with my kids the other day :)

Happiness Is:

Happiness is a day spent back-to-school shopping with a 4 year old who is embarking on one of life’s first big adventures: kindergarten. Last week everything came back to this one little word. There was school shopping and orientation night and wrangling around the schedules of three little people which has completely flip-flopped to fit ‘big’ sis’s school schedule. And, of course, there was (dum…ta…dum!) the first day of school.

I’m back to task this week, still trying to keep my brain straight on everyone’s schedule and how it all fits and meshes with work. Maybe I’m over-dramatizing but I had no idea kindergarten would be so huge - as in, the grade itself and all that goes down - what they learn, their responsibilities (my responsibilities!), the schedule - and how it would interact with our oh-so-nicely-defined and scheduled life (it’s true, I’m one of those mom’s who lives and dies by “The Schedule”). On orientation night, I looked around my daughter’s classroom and saw a glimpse of so many years to come and had this rush of happiness for her - for all the experiences, all the knowledge, all the fun that awaits her (and us, I’ve been told :)).

In any case, here are a few pics from my handy-dandy powershot taken during our girl’s day of shopping. For my daughter, I’d have to say, and as you can see - Happiness Is: chocolate milk at 10am in the morning (while we waited for the mall to open). :)

I’d actually love to photograph someone against this wall. But here’s my daughter doing some sort of cha-cha, gymnastics, who-knows dance. I love it. :)

Sacramento Monarchs Vs. LA

I had so much fun being audience to this game! I loved seeing the fan support and was constantly amazed how considerate and sweet fans were when walking in front of where I was shooting. We live in a good town! :) And it goes without saying that it was amazing to see our Sacto Monarchs in action - if I had to put one word to them, I’d say fierce. They are fierce! :)

A few images from the night…

The world’s best female basketball player warming up…

I love warmup because usually everyone is relaxed and joking with each other…

getting coached pre-game…

for some reason this cracked me …so here’s all these athletes stretching, warming up and the ref gets down into it too which, ya know, they run the court the whole game so of  course they need to but still, just struck me as funny…

gotta love fan support!

DeMya showing she’s no pushover :)

we may not have won but I’d say from the look on Parker’s face we were putting pressure on - love that! :)

and this is how the pros do it…with grace - laughing together from opposing teams

oh my gosh do I love watching these kids in action! so incredible!

She’s off and running!

Super short post - sharing an image of my friend Dhon Santos, Creative Director at the Sacramento Kings and Monarchs in action on Saturday night. He was unaware I was there and unfortunately I wasn’t able to connect with him so I decided to grab some images stealth like. Was so much fun to see him in action! Also saw tons of fans from Sacramento Monarchs Fan day and that was the best! Got to say hi and share in team support spirit! We didn’t win but what a fun game to be there for against LA. We fought hard. We will “Beat LA” Sac fans (loved the signs - will have images shortly :))next year! I believe! :)

Am working my way through images - more to come soon…hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Baby Art Album and Misc

Just received this in yesterday - I’m loving these books!

I know I’m short on words/posts this week - it’s been an insane one. I’m looking forward to a shoot tomorrow at a law firm - this will be a new one for me (law firm, that is) but I’m excited - met most of the lawyers and think it’ll be a fun shoot in their new building.  And I’m super pumped for Saturday and shooting on court at the Monarchs game as they take on LA (woho!). Go Monarchs! Will be sure to post some highlights from that next week…

Doubt I’ll make it in to post tomorrow so I’m going to wish everyone a happy early weekend!

while putting this album together I thought, man, I’ve photographed some seriously cute kids!
