SQSP & Life

As I sit here editing these images, I can’t help thinking - man, if I looked this good when I was pregnant, I’d be flaunting it, like, “here is me and my CUTE belly! Make way for the CUTE belly!”

Because seriously, Brittany does pregnant well!

And she does gracious really well too - like when the wind blew over my brand NEW Westcott softbox and strobe, breaking the softbox, snapping my strobe off the stand and breaking the brackett it was on. I don’t remember exactly how I responded but a little weeping may have ensued.

Or like when I had this totally bright idea to use this funky new (to me) loveseat I found at a local store but failed to fully appreciate how heavy it was to lift ALONE so…uh… yeah - guess who helped me? (I told her I was going to blog all my sins from this session! Total confession time!)

Or like when we were surrounded in a field and were the main attraction for the mosquitos in the area.

Seriously gracious. And fun. Brush those things aside, and I had a great time especially because she’s my friend and we got to, amongst falling softboxes and hungry mosquitos, hang out - without kids!! (or being at the gym - she was joking that this was probably one of the first times we actually saw each other outside of the gym - but you know, they have daycare there so it’s a big attraction! No surprise it’s a mecca for moms….psssst - 2 hour daycare! FREEDOM!!! Now…if they’d just throw a Starbucks on the side, it’d be an actual vacation. Sun, pool, daycare, frothy iced drinks with sinful whipped cream. Ahhhhhh.

I’ll be sharing the whole session soon! Hope everyone is having a great week! I’m off to photograph a school full of little ones tomorrow and am seriously excited. I love seeing these guys - they are always sure to make me laugh and teach me a thing or two.

And stay tuned - will be announcing a SERIOUSLY awesome promotion we’re getting ready to release!!!

9 Month Baby Session: Austin J.

I met Sarah and Austin in the morning at her family’s ranch for this session and completely fell in love with their property! What a beautiful setting. I’m always excited about their sessions because Sarah and I get to play a kind of (manly) dress up with Austin. She finds the cutest accessories - it’s fun to pair it with the setting and see what we can come up with.  Their property provided several awesome backdrops - it was actually hard to narrow it down but in the end we found a nice shaded spot with the adorable fence and beautiful green and, for our last few shots,  a little metal siding. A few favs are posted below.

Thanks for awesome morning you guys!

Highschool Senior Session: Jordan 2009

So excited to share this session! We had a blast - did a road-trip-style session and hit several fun spots. I have to say - Jordan was so game for anything like sitting in the dirt, going into a cobweb covered barn, hanging out in a deserted field and posing next to a trailer of old yard clippings - total sport for it all! As you can see, she is a basketball superstar who, I believe, is heading out next week to visit a college that wants to snap her up. No surprise - just check the jacket for verification. I know she has a seriously awesome future awaiting her and I’m psyched I was able to spend this afternoon with her (and mom - thanks for your help!) to capture this huge milestone in her life! Go team Jordan! :)

Check out a video of her session here!

Some fun extras!

SQSP & Extras

{Super quick sneak peek…something I’m trying to do now for all sessions - at least one quick pic to (slightly) satiate the appetite until the rest are ready…:)}

I can’t believe tomorrow will be Friday! This week has whisked by quicker than I’m ready for it to. Although our days are longer, they feel peculiarly shorter lately - as in, there just isn’t enough time in each day. Anyway, wanted to share a super quick sneak peek of a little man I photographed Wednesday. Love his rockin style. And in case you can’t see the tag, it says “Sourpuss” - love it, love it!

And today as I sat in my stylist’s chair - my ultra fabulous stylist! - I thought - why not?! I have another ‘why not!?’ in mind for the near future - must be my hippy soul emerging but I’ll be sharing that later…

Long Time No…

Write. I know. I also know that I could not be a single parent. As in, I appreciated my spouse before but had a refresher course in appreciation when I did single parent duty for four days…which, is why you might say I’ve been blog negligent.

In any case, yesterday I photographed the most beautiful senior - we actually met for the first time last year when her parents where kind of enough to drive from Napa to loan us their cool purple classic for a shoot with the Sacramento Kings Crew. I remember thinking at the time - oh my gosh, I’d love to photograph her! She’s beautiful but she has great spirit and an inherent sweetness so yesterday was especially cool. Here is a super quick sneak peek for Jordan and mom. I’ll be posting more shortly.

And here are a few fun ones from my single parent days. This will be the second year we’ve given the garden a go and of course I have to share a few pictures. We’re trying spinach, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, lots of herbs and hopefully some squash when the plants get in.

my little gardeners…

you know you want these glasses…and the whole upside down trend, just know, it started here. :)

every garden should have a lime tree…we’re giving it a go…
