Details, Important Details!

I’m getting ready to bust out of here to catch up with my family who already headed out for the weekend and I realized I forgot to mention a few very important things!

1. I so want to give big huge props and thanks to the amazing Joell of Image Garden Design who put together my blog - you can see more of her beautiful work at http://imagegardendesign.com. Not only does she have an awesome sense of style, technique and this amazing eye for detail but incredible patience; when I came to her I thought I had our new look pretty much figured out, but discovered along the course of getting a new logo, that I really didn’t. Infact, I was pretty clueless but both Joell and Christa (of Designs by Christa and in case you missed the link on our old blog you can check her out here: http://www.portraitsbychrista.typepad.com/designs) were extremely sweet and patient with me as I wound my way around to what would be the final logo and blog design. I’m estatic about both and feel like both the logo and blog truly embody what LLP strives to be. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

2. It’s days like this that I’m absolutely in love with my job (although, save for those night when I edit past consciousness, I pretty much love it all the time). I just returned from a senior consultation with mom K and daughter J and had a blast getting to know them over coffee at Starbucks. I walked away feeling like I just had the best afternoon chat with two old girlfriends. I know I’ve said it before but I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to meet so many beautifully sweet, wonderful people - it’s like having this huge database of fabulous friends and frankly, that’s cool!!! J - I’m SO looking forward to your shoot!

3. We officially have a studio manager!!! I’ll be introducing her soon here (prepare for your day as a supermodel D!!! :)) but for now, suffice to say - she rocks! I’m beyond thrilled she’s joined us. She’ll be handling all new incoming calls and inquires, she’s already popped out some awesome marketing ideas and she’ll be lending a hand where it’s needed - with orders, photo shoots, etc. And the best part is, she doesn’t sound like a 10 year old on the phone!! She sounds like a real adult! We’re so going legit! :) Hey, you know that saying….if you can’t laugh at yourself….

Ps - You’ll know you’re talking to D when you don’t hear a super high voice (for those of you just joining us, that super high voice would belong to me).

Okay, I’m officially packing up and signing off! I’ve been working so much I didn’t realize this was a holiday weekend - how truly sad is that? I knew we had plans, just didn’t connect the dots. For everyone else who is clued in and living real time - have a great holiday weekend and be safe!

Ah! And one more thing - are they not the most beautiful family (below)?!!! So had to add that! :)

Urban Family Sneak Peek

I am super late to get out of my house for an appointment but I was having SO much fun editing these photos that I totally lost track of time. Quick background: I first met the Vaughan’s a year ago to photograph Irish (aka: “ii” :)) and Jasper - when they showed up, I secretly wished I could photograph the whole family because, as you can see, they have such cool, funky style. Since then, I’ve been hinting, not all too subtlely :), about photographing all of them so I was psyched for this session. We met up late afternoon on yes, one of the hottest days this year - funny enough, last year we actually had to reschedule them because of the intense heat but we kept our date this time around. In any case, I could write more but now I’m really late (and still in my pjs and looking such a far cry from my self portrait above that you would laugh your butt off if you saw me now so I better get on it!) As it happens, I’m signing off for the weekend - I’ve been ordered to put down not only my camera (ouch! there goes my arm!) but my computer too. :( Wow, so this is what time out feels like? Now I see why it’s so effective! :)

Have a great weekend all!

The Kickoff!

Welcome to my new blog!!! And what a cool way to kick it off - my brother has been (tirelessly - I’ve heard the stories!) working as a campaign manager for state senate candidate Eleanor Sobel in Florida and last night she won!!! This was his first campaign and obviously (tho, knowing my brother, I’m sure his ego doesn’t need it this morning…hehe :)) - he rocks!!! Last year he made a major career change by leaving lawschool to return to his native FSU to attend a masters program. It was a rough time considering how hard he worked to get into lawschool…and one that has so obviously paid off.  I’m so proud of him! Congratulations Nick!
