Versace Rich Diva

I love all my sessions - I know, I say this a lot (but it’s true, I do) but I will say if there is one type of session that makes my inner fashionista beam like a Versace rich diva, it’s fashion. Add urban grunge and a gorgeous lady with rocking style and I’m like Micheal Jackson in the groove moon-walking back across the stage.

I’ve known Tanja, and photographed her family, for a few years now. I knew she was one of those dream-cool clients when it rained on our first session and she and her family decided to go ahead with the session anyway. We met at the park with umbrellas in hand and had an absolute blast. We all walked away from the session saying it was all the more fun and unique because of the rain - which only worked, of course, because her family was so much fun and willing to go with the flow and play.

So, when she called for an individual session for both personal and profession reasons - and she was down with going urban - I knew it was going to be fun and it was so. much. fun! She completely got in touch with her inner supermodel and worked the poses like a pro!

Thank you Amber Del Valle (Garage Hair and Skin Lounge) and Teshara Holmes (Skin and Makeup by Teshara) for awesome hair and makeup!

Get ready for picture overload…soooo can’t narrow these down - loving them all!

Have a GREAT and safe Labor Day Weekend!

random, I know but I loved the texture with her Burberry scarf (love the scarf too!!

supermodel!

this one is a little soft with movement but I LOVE it - her smile is so fresh and real and so cute!

work it, work it!

For inquiring minds - this was a Fashion Session which is 2 hours for $450 with 20-30 hand-edited and airbrushed images on CD (typically these sessions come with 3-4 backdrop/outfit changes but because we did a thorough pre-consult where she brought all her clothes and accessories we knew exactly what the game plan was and moved quickly allowing time for more outfits). There was an additional $50 on-location fee and she opted for hair and makeup for $125 . For full pricing, check out our main website and Pricing and Information.

Horsie (ey?) Shopping

How horsie shopping came to be horsie shopping…

Once upon a time I took my kids to John’s Pizzeria. They were young - too young to really benefit at that time from all the games and rides but one ride that was a huge success was the miniature carousel.  With but three small little horses riding at a pace that would put the Derby finish line 2 years into the future, it’s truly one of the least glamorous rides John’s has to offer. But for twin 2 year olds and a 3 year old it was cool (and totally non terrifying which in Hannah’s book {aka: “the good baby”} rates a high 10).  We didn’t get to play many games so our ticket stash was sad but nevertheless, after cashing it in for whatever ten cent item they had, and by some magical link of imagination known only in the Child Kingdom, John’s - to my kids - forever thereafter became known as Horsie Shopping.

And there you have it. So, for my twins 4th birthday we went Horsie Shopping and ate home made cake that surprisingly produced an edible cake (considering it was my kid’s first time attempting egg cracking - I told everyone to just ignore any crunchies they encountered :)). And below are some silly pics from our Horsie Shopping birthday extravaganza.

birthday cake can only be made in a spiderman outfit - naturally.

I know, I know, I’m totally biased but I think I have a serious heartbreaker on my hands in this one….my little cuddle bug Zsa Zsa.

my sweet pea Hannah and the death defying carousel

happy monday everyone!

Let it be the weekend…

I’m ready for some pool time. And sunshine. And celebrating my babies 4th birthday! I’m sad to say I was out of town on their real birthday (last weekend but if I had to be out of town, Cindy’s wedding was the reason to do it! I am still reliving and missing Georgia…) so this weekend will be about celebrating and having fun. And hopefully my kids will play along so I can be a cool mom all weekend instead of that parent mom who has to reel in the fun and put on the rules. You know the one I’m talking about? The Time Out Master. That one. I don’t love her much. She wears me out and makes me speak in deeper tones than my voice box was made to carry (it’s general consensus that my voice sounds like a 10 year old which is maybe why I still get carded often although I’d like to think it’s because I look like I’m under 21 :)).

An any case, a few fun shares from some recent headshot sessions for Dr. Curtis and her fabulous patients with the stunning smiles! Below is Ms. Cheryl who had never had a professional portrait session! I was so excited for her session and had she not told me, I never would have known. She smiled and worked her way through the entire session like it was no big deal. Gorgeous makeup provided by Teshara of Skin By Teshara.

she looked so cute in her glasses - she was actually sitting down to pay Teshara and I had to grab a quick shot!

And Ms. Laura who is also a Laura Lynn (no e) - we thought that was kind of cool - who I so enjoyed spending a Saturday morning with!

A bit of this, a bit of that

So. Tomorrow morning I board a plan for Gawga to go see my friend Cindy who gets married this weekend to her wonderful fiance Robert AND I will be there to photograph the entire event with my good friend Alli. Could a girl ask for a better weekend? I think not! I may at this moment though be a wee bit jealous because as I sit here editing in my studio with the clock nearing 7pm said friends are sitting in Cindy’s living room enjoying Robert’s magical musical talents. Such betrayal! Don’t they know the music can’t start until I get there?! (I love editing, it’s a bit too solitary a project sometimes and knowing your friends are having fun without you…the cruelty!) :)

Speaking of the musically inclined, check this out - this is one of Robert’s friends Jerry singing a song Robert asked him to sing on the night he proposed to Cindy. This song stops me in my tracks and just melts my heart. The verses are so beautifully humble and gorgeous. Robert knew this was his ace in the hole - I mean, seriously, if someone played this song for you how could you not say yes?! hehe We all love him so we’re glad she said yes! Check it out HERE.

Okay, I’m wrapping up the Passion for Fashion with one hefty post of pictures. These are some favs - so many to pick from it was hard to narrow down but I could be posting about this project forever and I have some other fun sessions I’m excited to share! So…here we go. The beautiful Sacramento Kings Dancers modeling Krush Boutique Clothing…and the crazy, wild, fun Spirit Hoods!

The Headshot Session

Have you ever met someone after seeing their website or their business card and you think wait, this is them, right? In my case, since I change my hair color oh-so-frequently that happens often! So, here’s the point - headshots are great for business and personal use but not if they represent you in the 80s, or in my case me last week (how do you feel about the color black? hum…), or if they in any way resemble your driver’s license - ya know what I’m saying? I mean, I’m just sayin

So, here’s the deal for those of you who don’t know - we have headshot sessions that go like this: 15-20 minutes, 5 (or more) hand-edited images from which to order, and one (1) full resolution digital negative sized 8×10 included with your session for the sweet price of $50.  Groovy.

Here’s a headshot from a recent session with beautiful Ms. Kelli who I so enjoyed photographing! Just so happens she’s the sister to Dr. Jamie Curtis and it just so happens beautiful smiles run in the family! Go figure! :)
