Designer Storyboards

Just thought I’d share a couple of recent favs.  Storyboards are so much fun and such a great option for all wall sizes. These were created to match little Miss’ room (which is to die for girlie-girl cute!) but storyboards can be designed to match any color, design, etc. Cool way to optimize your images! Storyboards are $155 and come in 11×14, 12×12, and 10×20.

this is an older one but still a fav I have on display in the studio…this is a great example of how accessories (cute hat) can make an image!

Pac-10 Conference

Headshots were never so much fun. Last week I headed down to Walnut Creek to meet up with Heather Vaughan in her new digs and meet some of the fun people she works with. Heather and I previously worked together at the Sacramento Kings and on one shoot a few years ago we ended the day by grabbing some of the crew involved in the shoot and throwing them in front of the camera for some fun, wacky shots (Heather included who knows how to bring the attitude!). It was so much fun that we did it again on the next shoot and somewhere along the line it became standard procedure. And I must confess, it’s like knowing I’m getting cake  (make that a carrot cake) after dinner - it’s one of my favorite parts of the shoot. So, I was stoked to find that the Pac10 crew, even though we just met, were up for fun and wacky. And for the record- they have some serious game! Even though we were in a small space, they brought the gear, the fun and enough attitude to make the Saturday Night Live crew take a step back. So I say, anyway. :)

Have a great weekend!

Some headshots just to prove to you that I actually did my job while I was there. :)

Let the games begin!

We’re bad, we’re bad, we know it, we’re bad…ugh huh! :)

Horsie (ey?) Shopping

How horsie shopping came to be horsie shopping…

Once upon a time I took my kids to John’s Pizzeria. They were young - too young to really benefit at that time from all the games and rides but one ride that was a huge success was the miniature carousel.  With but three small little horses riding at a pace that would put the Derby finish line 2 years into the future, it’s truly one of the least glamorous rides John’s has to offer. But for twin 2 year olds and a 3 year old it was cool (and totally non terrifying which in Hannah’s book {aka: “the good baby”} rates a high 10).  We didn’t get to play many games so our ticket stash was sad but nevertheless, after cashing it in for whatever ten cent item they had, and by some magical link of imagination known only in the Child Kingdom, John’s - to my kids - forever thereafter became known as Horsie Shopping.

And there you have it. So, for my twins 4th birthday we went Horsie Shopping and ate home made cake that surprisingly produced an edible cake (considering it was my kid’s first time attempting egg cracking - I told everyone to just ignore any crunchies they encountered :)). And below are some silly pics from our Horsie Shopping birthday extravaganza.

birthday cake can only be made in a spiderman outfit - naturally.

I know, I know, I’m totally biased but I think I have a serious heartbreaker on my hands in this one….my little cuddle bug Zsa Zsa.

A bit of this, a bit of that

So. Tomorrow morning I board a plan for Gawga to go see my friend Cindy who gets married this weekend to her wonderful fiance Robert AND I will be there to photograph the entire event with my good friend Alli. Could a girl ask for a better weekend? I think not! I may at this moment though be a wee bit jealous because as I sit here editing in my studio with the clock nearing 7pm said friends are sitting in Cindy’s living room enjoying Robert’s magical musical talents. Such betrayal! Don’t they know the music can’t start until I get there?! (I love editing, it’s a bit too solitary a project sometimes and knowing your friends are having fun without you…the cruelty!) :)

Speaking of the musically inclined, check this out - this is one of Robert’s friends Jerry singing a song Robert asked him to sing on the night he proposed to Cindy. This song stops me in my tracks and just melts my heart. The verses are so beautifully humble and gorgeous. Robert knew this was his ace in the hole - I mean, seriously, if someone played this song for you how could you not say yes?! hehe We all love him so we’re glad she said yes! Check it out HERE.

Okay, I’m wrapping up the Passion for Fashion with one hefty post of pictures. These are some favs - so many to pick from it was hard to narrow down but I could be posting about this project forever and I have some other fun sessions I’m excited to share! So…here we go. The beautiful Sacramento Kings Dancers modeling Krush Boutique Clothing…and the crazy, wild, fun Spirit Hoods!

Power of a Beautiful Smile

I think I kind of took this for granted growing up because, you see, I was raised with a stepfather who was a dentist. I got all the dental treatment - the fluoride, the cleanings, the checkups. We were up on our teeth like I’m up on coffee in the morning - in other words, we never missed it…brushing and all of that. And sadly, I’m pretty sure as a kid I threw some attitude around about it too. It annoyed me. The fluoride tasted bad. The teeth cleanings were uncomfortable. Blah, blah, blah. I’m thinking even if the fluoride tasted good back then (which it didn’t - truly, things have come a long way - bubblegum? strawberry? chocolate? sweet! when’s my next appointment?! never mind my kids, I’ll be here! :)) I probably would have found a reason to be put off by it. It’s just a kid thing. I think. Man, do I have trouble coming my way! I think it’s called payback and remembering how I acted about all of this, I’m pretty sure it’s headed my way soon!

Little did I know how I’d appreciate it someday - having healthy strong teeth, no cavities and good habits to pass on to my kids. When I photographed Dr. Curtis’ office I couldn’t help noticing the amazing smiles. Beautiful, amazing smiles. It just makes ya want to go to the dentist a little more often because truly, there is power in a beautiful smile. And these ladies have it.

Find out more about Dr. Curtis by visiting her website here. She has a gorgeous office in Lincoln. I’ll be working with Dr. Curtis to photograph some of the amazing makeovers she’s done so be prepared to see more stunning smiles soon. :) I really overkill the smilie faces, huh? I can’t seem to help myself…speaking of smiles and all….

and the Doctor herself. :)

and just to show you doctors know how to have fun too - love this office! seriously fun group!

Amy brought these cool glasses (beautiful mama to the left who’s daughter’s Ms. Emily and Gracie have visited the studio on a few occasions) and I almost tackled her on the way out for them! Ends up her sister - who lives in London - picked them up there and brought them on a visit….so, since I got the hookup :) I’m hoping to be stocking these in the studio soon because they are TOO fun!!! They have Diva written all over them!!
